On Sunday, 17 March 2024, the Parent-Teacher Association of St. Francis Xavier's College hosted a fantastic parent-child picnic. With over 130 parents and students joining in, the enthusiasm was palpable!
Together with our principal and teachers, we embarked on an exciting adventure to Lau Shui Heung Reservoir, Lau Fau Shan Market, and Kam Tin Mural Village. This special event not only fostered stronger bonds between our school community and families but also created unforgettable memories for all.
We're thrilled to see our parents, students, and teachers alike eagerly looking forward to the next PTA-organized activity! Stay tuned for more exciting events that bring us closer together!
On 13 March 2024, we were delighted to host a joint school retreat, attended by 80 Catholic students from St. Francis Xavier’s College and St. Francis Xavier’s School, Tsuen Wan. This spiritual gathering, held from 2 to 4 pm in our lecture room and chapel, was dedicated to enriching our students’ spiritual lives during the Lent season.
Retreat Highlights:
1.“In the Way of Mary” Sharing:
oBr. John Chong led a heartfelt sharing session on the theme “In the Way of Mary,” inspiring students with insights into Mary’s virtues.
2.Creative Workshop:
oStudents expressed their creativity and reverence by designing colorful pictures of Mary, each adorned with written virtues, which were later displayed on our display board.
3.Dramatic Presentation:
oA poignant drama on the “Wedding of Cana” was performed by the committee members of our Catholic Students Association, bringing the biblical story to life.
4.Sacrament of Reconciliation:
oFr. Miguel of O.P. provided guidance for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, encouraging students to partake in confession as a preparatory step towards a meaningful Easter celebration.
5.Reflective Conclusion:
oThe retreat concluded with Br. John’s summarizing reflections on the drama, followed by a serene and contemplative prayer session.
As we conclude the Joint School Retreat, we are reminded of the profound impact such spiritual engagements have on our community. The retreat has been a testament to the dedication of our students and staff in seeking a deeper connection with their faith. It has been a time of reflection, learning, and spiritual nourishment that we trust will resonate with our students throughout the Lent season and beyond.
Our Parents Day event for 2023-2024, held on 25 February 2024, was a resounding success! While it may have been a nerve-wracking experience for some of our students, we're thrilled to report that it was an incredibly valuable and enriching experience for all.
Seeing our students' faces light up as they shared their academic achievements and daily performances with their parents and form teachers was truly heartwarming. Of course, there were moments of excitement and disappointment, but these are all essential parts of the learning journey.
To our students who excelled, we encourage you to stay humble and keep up the fantastic work! And to those who faced challenges, remember that mistakes are opportunities for growth and learning. Let's work together to redouble our efforts and strive for excellence.
Last but not least, we extend our sincerest gratitude to all our wonderful parents, whose love, care, and support are the driving force behind our students' success. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community!
Three esteemed guests from Marist Brothers paid us a visit on 1st and 2nd February 2024. These Marist visitors included Brother Luis Carlos (the Vicar General), Brother Goyo Linacero (the Assistant to the Econome General), and Brother Allan De Castro (the Appointed Provincial of East Asia). During their short trip to Hong Kong, they visited both Marist schools. They met and exchanged ideas with the student representatives, school administrators, and IMC managers of both schools. We were encouraged by the Brothers' visit and promised to carry on with St. Marcellin Champagnat's mission to enlighten the youth in Hong Kong in their journey of growth.
